Two units of the News Corporation, Fox International Channels and Fox Global Networks, plan to announce on Monday morning that they are forming a division to be called Fox Hispanic Media. Fox Hispanic Media will be composed of two existing cable channels and a new one. The existing channels are Fox Deportes, formerly known as Fox Sports en Español, and Utilísima, a channel aimed at women that offers shows on subjects like cooking, parenting, beauty and home improvement.Clearly, Fox is seeking to gain viewers in a growing segment of the population by creating this division, but how effectively they will do so and retain these viewers is yet to be determined. Despite this, Fox's expansion shows that media is constantly adapting for users and making their experience easier and more enjoyable. A similar change happened on Facebook when the company began to offer the site in different languages, now reaching around 60 and counting to target a broader demographic. Referencing Media Jamss mission statement, changes likes these are some of the benefits resulting from media outlets because they are increasingly becoming more and more inclusive, which is a core benefit of new media.

I think that the topic of new media becoming more international is a topic that should definitely be discussed, especially with a mission statement like ours. I just wanted to comment and say that, as I continue the job search process, I am becoming more aware of how international media has become. More and more jobs that I am interested in are now requiring their possible employees to be bilingual, particularly in both English and Spanish, Fox being a prime example of this kind of company.
